Bxa

I'm hoping to hear about people's experiences with the BXA program. My son is a HS junior and is very interested in BXA for music(performance, sax) and math. Any information you could provide, good or bad, would be helpful. Thanks.

Hi! I’m a senior in high school and I applied RD to CMU’s BxA program for math and fine art. I’ve talked to a few current students about it. So, the first thing you need to know is that it’s not a double major. This is good, because it means that you only have to take -some- of the course requirements for your concentrations (in your son’s case, music and math) and consequently, you have a very manageable schedule. Most students that I’ve talked to, though they were mostly concentrating in math and art, really love the program. They have plenty of time for extra curricular activities and even get the opportunity to study abroad, which is something I myself really want to do.

There’s more factual information on the BxA program here:

Good luck!
