I live in California, so I have wait longer than the east coast people for decision mails...
anyway,
I was really curious about this...

On every school website (including Peddie and Lawrenceville, and etc.)
it says that they will mail decisions ON march 10th.
But as I'm going through the threads, I'm seeing that a handful of the people here, already received their decision mails..
So when they say that they will mail decisions ON march 10th, do they mean they will put the mails in THEIR mailbox by March 10th, or make sure the decision mails are in MY mailbox by March 10th??......
ok i'm obviously confused...

S.O.S. !!!!!!!

I say it depends on each school.
Most have online decisions; if not, most mail it so the applicants receive the mail BY March 10. However, some schools might have the letters sent on March 10th, so you'll get it at the latest by March 14th. If not, you can call the admissions office to know your result.

another question:
is it true that the thick, acceptance letters take only 2-3 days to arrive, but
rejection letters take 1-2 weeks to arrive?

It depends on how they mail them. If they mail the "thick" packages priority mail it may tak only 2-3 days, rejections will not take 1-2 weeks to get from New England to CA vis regular first class mail. Some schools will mail the acceptances Overnight (either with the post office or another carrier). Some will send a "skinny" acceptance letter first class mail and then the thick package UPS.

As others have said, with March 10 being on a Monday it has complicated it further. Some schools mailed on Friday, some Saturday and some are mailing on Monday. To know what your schools did for sure, give them a call on Monday. Even if the web site says "March 10 mail date" that might not be the case (It wasn't for a couple of our schools). Some school web sites, though do not say Mail ON 3/10 they say "Decsion Date 3/10" or "Student Notification Date 3/10" or even "Students Notified by (or on) 3/10"
