By when do I have to finish my major pre-reqs?

Hello folks!
How is everyone doing?

I have a question about major pre-req deadline.

There are two opinions online. (Perhaps it’s already been debated!)

  1. Some says it’s by Spring before you transfer. (Two full years)
〔This is what it says on official pages/guides〕
  2. Some says it’s by Fall when you apply. (One year + Fall semester)
〔This is because you’ve finished all the pre-reqs, your chance will be higher〕

The opinion for no.1 seems more plausible because it is what it says on the official pages and official guides. And also, the time given to finish IGETC and major pre-reqs at the same time, it is highly unlikely for anyone to finish within a year and one semester (fall).

However, when you mention “chances,” the opinion for no.2 seems like it’s the actual (interpreted) dead-line.

What do you think? Please leave your comment!

You have until spring. However, you should try and get the math req and at least one English done by this fall.

Re major courses, don’t bunch them all up last spring term because they want to see you have the chops. But you have until spring.

This is my starting year in college.
I have until next Spring to do everything. IGETC will be done by Fall and Major Req will be done by Spring (Just Linear Alg)

When they say you have it until spring next year to complete all required classes do they mean including the spring semester next year or prior to that?

@diamonddogs I’m not sure what you’re asking, but they are always referring to the spring immediately prior to your fall start at aUC.

@lindyk8 So say they say that you have spring 2016 to spring 2017 to complete all required classes, they mean including the spring 2017 right? So basically you have spring 2016, summer 2016, fall 2016 and spring 2017 to complete all classes? Sorry for the confusions : P

yes, they are including spring 2017. I assume you mean this for the TAG? Basically they are saying just make sure everything is done by spring 2017, no matter when you started.

@lindyk8 ah I see, thank you very much for clarifying!
