By when should we update our FAFSA estimates?

Most of my schools needed the FAFSA by 2/1, and my parents didn't quite have their tax returns at that point, so we used 2005 estimates. Is there some sort of general deadling for when I should update to 2006 info? We just got our returns done and I don't want to be too rushed.

Also, I used 2005 estimates for the CSS as well. How is that updated? Do I have to send my returns to every college? Some of them already request IDOC service and crap, not sure what to do.

Re: FAFSA, if you have your 2006 taxes done, update your FAFSA now. Do not wait. Re: the Profile, you will need to call the colleges. The schools we dealt with had us print out the profile and write in any corrections. They told us where to mail them. And this included a school that used IDOC.

You really should have your 2006 FAFSA information as ESTIMATED in there by now . Look at year-to-date infor paystubs in Dec . 2006 . Actually , by now , except for a few random brokerage tax forms , you should have gotten all your paperwork by now . Refile estimates now , and then, again when you do the taxes.

No, those were 2006 estimates (my mom said they were barely any different from 2005) and I started updating to real 2006 info last night (can only do one correction form at a time). Thanks!
