BYU Rocks!

HECKYES BYU ROCKS!!!!!

allright, so i'm not applying (didn't even consider it), not a chance i'm going all the way out to UT... but it's basically an awesome school. both my parents went there and loved it, and my whole life i wanted to go there till like ninth grade (once i visited it i discovered that UT in general is just NOT for me). but i think it's so awesome that such a school exists... sometimes i wonder if there is anything good left about humanity... then i see the church.... : )

BYU rocks? Its ranking in USNWR is falling like a rock, tumbling 34 spots just this past year.

I hate the rankings. Waste of time IMHO.

As for BYU's actual ranking I don't think it's too horrible considering all of the colleges in the US.

heeje_90 - Here are some answers from what I know about BYU. I just graduated this year, so hopefully this helps out.

Depending on where you’re planning to live at BYU, you probably won’t need a car. Most freshmen live on campus and have a meal plan, so there’s not a huge need for a car. In cases that may require one, you will most likely have someone in your ward who is willing to help you out. Since you probably won’t have a place to keep the car for two years, it may be easier to go with out. If you live off campus, it may be a little trickier, but I think you can get by with roommates or someone in your ward. I didn’t have a car until my senior year, but I was lucky to have helpful roommates. So maybe see if you can contact your roommate(s) and see what their situation is.

About internships… most of the schools at BYU are very helpful when it comes to finding an internship. In fact, I’d bet that it’s easier to get one out of state than in Utah because there’s less competition from BYU students. But I can’t be sure. Usually, you can go to your college advisement center, and they will have contacts for possible internships. They are really willing to help you out.

At BYU, it’s not necessarily easier to get married. BUT, if you are hoping to marry someone who is LDS, there’s definitely a more dense population to choose from or start with. It’s nice to live in an environment with people who share your standards. I would say that makes dating a lot easier. But, unfortunately, admission to BYU does not come with a magical formula or plan that leads straight toward marriage. You still have to work at it. But as I said, it is so nice to live near so many people who share your same standards.

The environment on campus is great for studying! The library is one of the largest university libraries in the country, and there are lots of areas to study there. There is also a foreign language lab where a lot of students from other countries like to study and hang out. I’ve never lived outside the country, but I like this study area a lot. You don’t have to speak a different language to go there. Other than that, there are a lot of other places to study on campus. There are lots of computer labs too.

Internet access on campus runs really well usually. BYU does have a filter that blocks some internet sites, but mostly they’re sites you wouldn’t use anyway. And like I said, there are lots of computer labs around campus. I hardly have trouble finding a computer somewhere. (The library computers fill up fast, but there are other places to go.)

I hope my answers help. Good luck at school!
