BYU vs. Syracuse reputation?

Though I've been waitlisted at Columbia, it looks like I'm down to deciding between Brigham Young University and Syracuse for my undergraduate education. They're both ranked at #62 on the US News & World Report's list, and I'd double-major in Communication and Environmental Science at either. Syracuse's comm program is better-known, but I get the impression that BYU is more appealing to grad schools.

Could anyone give me advice on which would be better for me to pick if I hope to enter a highly competitive journalism program for grad school (possibly at Columbia or Stanford)?

There is a HUGE difference in the environment of the two schools. BYU is a Mormon college with extremely strict codes of conduct, dress etc. Syracuse is more of a party type of school. Go to the place where you feel you’d fit in best and be most comfortable.

I’m aware of the differences, and both have their pros and cons. I think I could be happy at either, so what’s most important to me is which would look best on my grad school applications.
