I’m a transfer student looking to take the C++ challenge exam to try to get out of taking CSCI 103. Has anyone heard anything about it?
Haven’t heard of it and although my son took a C++ course at our cc before entering USC, admissions said they would need to review it for comparability. My son decided to take CSCI 103 anyway and it was much, much harder than at the cc. It was very smart of him to not get the equivalency approved.
I haven’t heard a whole lot about it, but knew 2 kids that really scared the heck out of me in 103. One of them was talking about making games in Unity while another student was even called out by the professor when the professor discovered that the student was involved with a music startup and already had an app on the ios app store. If neither of those students felt the need to bypass 103, it makes me think that the experience is worth it. I took three C++ courses prior to 103 and they barely prepared me. I wound up with a very average grade in CSCI 103 and I thought I had been doing pretty well (B+ on the midterm, good points on all but 1 assignment, etc.).
