So I got my grades for the first quarter and am seriously ****ed off.

Math 3A = A- (4 units)
Work Labor and Social Justice Cluster = A- (5 units)
Chem 14A Honors = B (1 unit)
Chem 14A = C (4 units I want to cry)

I went into the final with a B+, ****ed up and somehow ended up with a C. Now I seriously dont know what to do.. the GPA calculator on Myucla gives me a 3.16 for this quarter ... I'll probably be kicked out of the honors program.....

My question is, is there any possible chance of a person getting into med school with a C? I know I can do better in future quarters, I pledged a fraternity this first quarter which took up hours and hours and hours and hours of my time, but now I'm in the fraternity so for next quarter I'll have much more study time.

If I step it up and get A's will med school accept me? I want to know because if a C is an automatic disqualification then theres really no point in me taking extra classes for premed (such as english) as well as studying for the MCAT. I really don't want to work soooo hard, get A's and score well on the MCAT, just to find out my C precludes me from getting in anywhere.

Does anyone have any ACTUAL KNOWLEDGE about med schools and think I can still get in if I seriously step it up?

As with everything, a C is not going to kill you for medical school or any other graduate school. Sure it's not the nicest thing on your app, but as long as you try to show an upward trend (i.e. don't get another C or lower), you should be fine. It's not the end of the world, so just look ahead and improve :)

jeez its not the end of the world. youre a youngin and theres time to recover

you wont get kicked out of the honors program if you take this as an awakening and do better the nxt 2 quarters. here are the reqs for honors: College Honors Academics

see things are starting to look up already. enjoy your vacation, get some rest, and tackle your classes head on nxt quarter. and no, thats not the sky falling

A C in a single class isn't an auto disqualification. It is certainly true med schools look carefully at science grades, especially o-chem. But a single C in the 1st class may be ok.
