Some schools don't even bother looking at freshman grades and a slightly ugly freshman year is alleviated by the notion that you are still adjusting. So stop worrying and improve from now on.

You got a C? Wow. That's worthless. Make sure you apply to several safety schools, as I think a lot top colleges will not like to see that on a transcript. A "C" is akin to "lazy slacker" in terms of college admissions. In fact, I'd suggest jumping off a bridge right now.

Yes, the C will kill you. In fact, it kills hundreds of millions of Americans every year. Most of the people you see out there are really just elaborate hallucinations. The Gods of Academia want to make SURE that nobody is on to their scheme. Oops, I need to go, the Gods of Academia will kill me for revealing their secret.

The C will kill your chances of being admitted to a top-tier university. (unless you get near perfect SAT's) However, you still have a very good chance of going to the state university.

Noob, a C won't really kill you at a top-tier if you have good ECs and otherwise good grades. I heard Princeton doesn't count frosh year anyways and thats a top-tier.
