Schools I am applying to:
1. Stanford University (SCEA)
2. Harvard University
3. Yale University
4. John Hopkins University
5. WashU St. Louis
6. UChicago
7. Duke University
8. Swarthmore
9. Northwestern University
10. University of Colorado: Boulder

Harvard, Stanford, Yale are tough for anybody, but you’re certainly competitive, but the rest are probably fine. Stanford would be toughest by far because being asian doesn’t help you there.

K thanks. Btw I emphasize my uniqueness in my common app essay, so being “Asian” shouldn’t be a problem. I made sure they see that I will be adding to their school’s diversity, than homogenizing it as “any other Asian”

SHY is a reach for everyone except for a few legacies, but all the other schools on your list are matches. My first reaction upon reading your post was “OH MY GAWD HOW DID HE DO THAT?? WHEN DOES HE SLEEP?”

wow… you did a lot. but didn’t do that well in each individual thing.

You are devoted, thats for sure. You test scores are strong (could be stronger).

Your academic index is 223 out of 240 (7 out of 9) assuming you are top 3%.

Chances are ok

My academic index is actually 233:
http://www.collegeconfidential.com/AcademicIndexCalc.aspx</a>. 9/9 not 7/9 ><. And yea I focused on overall “leadership” rather than focus on a single club. I believe in dedication in an idea rather than in an organization =/

Your academic index is a 7/9 considering the low CR score. How large is your school?

i gave them the 680 CR score and still got 9/9…? 150 students in our class 600 in school

Quote:
Your Academic Index: 233
AI Rank*: 9 out of 9

based on the following data:

SAT I Verbal: 680 SAT I Math: 800

SAT II No. 1: 800 SAT II No. 2: 800 SAT II No. 3: 780

GPA is 4.30 & up and class size is $size

It all depends on your actual class rank then. I calculated yours putting you in the top 3% in terms of class rank and it was a 7/9.

well we don’t have a class rank, I was just trying to put things in perspective. I entered my GPA as maximum, which it is, so it gave me that AI. But you’re right, my 680 CR will hurt me =/. I’m retaking ACT in december and should get 34-36. Also I didn’t indicate above but I have completed 750 hours of logged community service. Thanks for your advice jersey!

Yea I just resubmitted your information with a GPA variable rather than class rank and it was a 9/9. Otherwise, your pretty well-rounded and should be competitive at all of your schools.

bump bump bump

When I saw your ec’s and your grades…I was starting to think “what school wouldn’t accept him?” and then saw what you’re aiming for. everything except for Harvard, Stanford, and Yale should be a match. I think you can safely call all three a slight reach. Just have a great essay and you should be fine.

haha thank you dannav ^^

Personally, I think you’re good for everywhere. I think you’ll be able to get into Stanford since you early actioned. But really yeah, I say you should get into 80% of the places you want to go to.

Thank you dynamic.

Will you chance me back? =D http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/808267-chance-me-northwestern-ed-please.html</a></p>

i cant believe someone said you didnt do that WELL in your Ec’s.

umm… yes you did.

student body president… captain of the math team… sports every year, varsity captain…

thats NOT doing well???

and you did a lot of things for all four years.

plus boy scouts can get you in to A LOT of places right off the bat.

thanks blooeyes! I’m glad you were able to better discern my ECs :)
