I am a junior in high school about to start my fourth quarter. Freshman year til first semester of this year I’ve been heavily concentrated on science courses, taking ap bio, ap physics, etc. but i recently had a revelation that i really don’t want to major in science or math at all. With that being said, it’s too late to drop calc BC but i did get a B and B- in calc AB(my lowest scores in high school until now). With the C+ in calc BC my gpa dropped to a 3.68. I am not applying to top tier colleges; i’m applying to schools like the university of minnesota(in state), uc irvine, schools like that as a liberal arts major of some sort(probably political science). my question is: will colleges hate that I’m not majoring in the things i studied heavily as an underclassman/half of junior year and what are my chances at the u of m college of liberal arts? I have really good extracurriculars from my school(leadership position in 2 of them) and have taken lots of honors and ap courses including ap macro and ap comparative government.
Probably not (in response to the question you asked in the paragraph). Interests change over time, and many who enter college with a specific major end up changing their major while in college.
weighted or unweighted?
unweighted, and it was around 3.75 before junior year hit
idk about the UofM but I think you have a rly good shot at UCI (although I don’t really know any of your other stats.)
I got two Cs in AP Calc AB, a 5 on the AP exam and still got into top schools as a STEM major. As long as you do well on the AP exam you’ll be fine.
@Leafex I have that same situation as you now; so does getting a 5 in Calc AB really make up for the low grade?
oh no, you got a C on a course that you would normally take second semester freshman year?
Is C+ your final grade or just a marking period?
final grade
