C+ in AP Calculus in senior year...

Hi all,

I currently have a C+ in AP AB Calculus as a senior, and I’m worried that it’ll deeply affect my chances at being admitted into college. I’ve maintained a 3.9 unweighted gpa thus far, and the rest of my classes this year (including 2 other APs and 1 honors) are high As. My SAT score is 1390, not the greatest or the worst. In previous years, I’ve only gotten one B in my sophomore math class. One of my friends told me that this one C equates 3 Bs, and I’ll be asking to be rejected. Will this one C greatly affect my chances of getting into college? I’m not applying to very elite schools, and am aiming for schools within the 30-40% acceptance range.

Depends on the schools you are targeting and your intended major. If you are anticipating being a STEM major, that C+ could hurt.

It’s still early in the school year. Be sure you are getting extra help and working hard on getting that grade up!

Also depends on where and when you are applying. Some schools don’t even look at your senior grades, just what classes you are taking.

It’s worse than an A and better than an F. Everything will affect your admission chance. One grade in one quarter of probably 30 classes on your transcript won’t “deeply” or “greatly” affect it, but it will be noticed.

But you have no control other than doing your best to bring the grade up. Focus on that and not the impact of it, which you can’t control.

Please don’t listen to the nonsense from your “friends”.
