C in calculus II

okay here's my dilemma: I had problems at home this past semester and had trouble focusing on my studies. I know, it's very 'shady' or 'making-family-problems-as-an-excuse' reason but its true. Its also true that I do not like math. I have As on all my other science courses, and all other GE courses. (except for a B in art, which was also last semester, along with calc II. ridiculous, huh?) Not only this, but my other math grades were also pretty bad. a B in precalc and another B in calc I, each has their own weird situation/reason why I cant get As on both of them. Bottom line is, math had always been a problem for me due to my shaky foundation.

Realistically, do I still have a chance of raising my GPA? overall GPA is 3.6, science is 3.41.(that includes my B in precalc, 3.48 if not included). And can you suggest ways for me to raise my GPA after this? I will try reasoning out with my professor, but he is strict about his grading policy. And the dreaded question: do I still have a chance at ANY medical school?

Sorry for the long post. Thank you for your time.

Yes, you still have a chance at medical school. How many semesters do you have left until application time? With solid performance in another two semesters, you could boost your overall GPA and BCPM GPA.

I am in my 2nd year (out of 5) in college. The only lower division science courses i could take to boost my GPA are the 2 semesters of ochem and a 3rd semester of biology, 2 semesters of physics and (maybe) a third semester of math. The rest will be upper division biology classes. No more math classes, which I think would help me a lot, as I can concentrate more on the science classes I will take. What do you guys think I should do?

Do you have a chance of raising your GPA- Yes, just make sure to do well in the rest of your classes.

Do you have a chance of getting into any medical school- Of course. Just finish out strong and make sure the rest of your application is solid. GPA is only one part of the total package.

If math isn't your thing then give stats a try. It's factored into your BCMP GPA and most people find it easier than traditional courses and definitely easier than Calc II.
