Ok so I'm taking geometry over summer and we have to cram a whole year of geometry into two months of summer. In the first semester I got a C+. How much will this hurt my chances of getting to a top college? I am going to be a sophomore with the most rigorous courses I can possibly take. If I do well for the rest of high school will colleges overlook that one C+?

Don’t worry, summer courses are not as big a deal as you would think. Colleges will like the fact that you’re taking a class outside of school, actually. It shows you want to go beyond what your school provides, and that’s fine. Just bring it up in the second semester if you’re still worried, but you shouldn’t be.

Do I still have a chance to get into say Duke, Stanford, and the other Ivy leagues? Thank you for the advice by the way!

You should not worry about this single C+. But you should worry about your ability to take the next level math classes. You should figure why you get a C+ and find a better way to study math. You cannot say you get C+ because you cram 1 year of meterials into 2 months.

I’ve always been decent at math with a high B or low A. I’m taking honors pre calc and the summer assignment I find easier than geometry. I think geometry is not my strong suit I should say.
