C+ in math one semester...?

<p>Hi Everyone!
So unfortunately in the advanced math class I am taking this year (junior year) I got a C+ in. My school is very rigorous and I got A's in all my other classes including four APs.
I'm not interested in majoring in a math/science in college, but I'm worried that after seeing a C+ for one class during one semester junior year, highly selective colleges will automatically remove me from the running. Thankfully I have one full semester to bring my grade to an A for second semester, and I know colleges like to see improvement. How much of an effect will this grade have on my chances of getting into highly selective universities, and is there any thing in particular I can do to ameliorate this? also, do college apps give you an area to explain a bad grade, or something of the sort?
I do have interesting extra curricular activities.
I think i'll do well on my upcoming SAT, APs, and subject tests. Speaking of subject tests, would getting a good grade (750+) on the Math II, and a 770+ on my SAT I math soften the blow of my weak math grade for this semester? I'm generally good at math, but I basically hit a wall and couldn't bounce back from my mistakes. :(</p>

<p>Thanks so much for your help!!!</p>

<p>What will your overall GPA be with this c+? I don’t think it would absolutely ruin your chances really, especially if you are normally a straight a student. But I would also consider balancing your AP’s if possibly your course load is making it so that you can’t fully succeed in a class. For example, if you are in straight ap/honors classes removing one of them next year won’t make you look bad as you already have quite a few under your belt. But yeah, don’t fixate on it because you can’t change it now and it probably wont be THAT much of a game changer anyways.</p>

<p>Thank you so much for responding! </p>

<p>I think my UNWEIGHTED GPA would be a 3.54 since I don’t think my school takes electives into consideration for GPA, even if they’re APs. I’m not too sure though, so my UNWEIGHTED GPA with all my classes including my electives would be a 3.59, hardly different. My weighted GPA would be pretty high because of my course load.
I’m just hoping I bring this C+ up to an A.</p>

<p>Thanks again for your advice! :D</p>
