How much does getting a C one semester in accelerated honors Analytical geometry and trig sophomore year hurt my chances of getting into top (but not ivy) schools? (Such as Umich, Northwestern, Washington St. Louis, Wisconsin @ Madison).

Personally, I’d say not much, but it depends. How many semesters are in a year for your school? My school has 4 per year. Also, what is your overall grade for that class for the year? That is what ultimately matters I’m pretty sure.

Can you answer mine please?

Isn’t a semester by definition half of the year? Wouldn’t it be four quarters, not semesters?

As long as your cumulative GPA is high, you will likely be fine. I had a B in Honors Geometry and C+ in Honors Chem my sophomore year with all other As and A-s and got into competitive schools like Lehigh, Villanova and Lafayette.

My school has 2 semesters in a year, and my cumulative GPA is really high so thanks everyone that makes me feel way better!

Hsving 1 C should be okay for UMich & UWI as long as your overall GPA is still high. UMich has average admission GPA of 3.83 and UWI is around 3.65.
