Would a C in precalc hinder my chances of getting in an elite college such as UNC or NYU. I have a decent GPA and hope to get a High score on the SAT.

To be a likely admit to those schools numbers wise, you should maintain a 3.8 gpa and pull like a 32ACT. A 3.7 would probably be fine too.
