C in Precalculus...

If I have a C in Precalculus wha math should I take next year? Half the class has D's and F's and few have A's. Some have B's. What should I take? Which math and which science should I take?

If you think you can, take calculus. Any other math will not look as good.

Depends. How much do you like math and what do you want to major in? If you want to go into a science especially, or you want to get into a prestigious college, you should take the most difficult courses offered in each (AP, IB etc). If you don't think you can take the AP without bringing up your grade I would settle for something less. Good luck :)

A C in precalculatory math...get a tutor OR just dump the social life in the gutter.

well it is actually called Pre-AP Calculus which is harder than Precalculus.

I agree with logistics. You have some choices:

Get a tutor

Study study study

Go to an easy math class next year

Accept the C and (probably) struggle in AP Calc.

If this is Pre-AP, who knows how hard AP would be? Take whatever you think you'll be able to do well in. That could be AP if you're willing to put in the work.

My teacher said I can take AP Statistics definitely....I can take AP Calculus AB, though I have to pu in work and I cannot take AP Calculus BC for sure...lol...at my school AP caclulus AB is easier than Pre-AP Calculus

I suggest either AP Statistics or AP CalculusAB.

AP Calculus AB would be the best thing to take if you hate graphing and evaluating large amounts of data, or if you dislike so-called real world math.

Edit: It will also depend on where you recieved those low grades-if you can't do trigonometry then don't waste your time. Same holds with any problems dealing with polynomial and the main transcendental functions. If you have problems with series/sequences, probability or combinatorics then Calculus is far better than Statistics (which is almost exclusively dealing with the above subjects.)

Precal is a weird subject, lol... it's not really "preparing" you for calc so much here, because in BC/AB calc they mostly use algebra 2... but yeah, tutors are really helpful because it's just hardcore MATH and formulas and problems, no icky concepts.

Do PROBLEMS. LOTS and LOTS of problems.

That's basically all you can do in math... practice practice practice! What is hard about your course? I took the pre-AP Calc class too (we have pre-AP calc (for those going into BC) -> honors precal (AB or honors calc) -> cp precal (regular calc/ap stat) -> lowest lvl of precal? (depends on you grade) and the only thing I found difficult were the tests... a lot of application of the stuff you learned, so no wishy-washy learning here, make sure you know the stuff down pat ;)

I would take AP Calc AB. And I agree with what precocious said, do a TON of these problems. When I started out in AB I was completely mystified and failed the first few tests. But I started really working my butt off practicing. (And yes, it works-I got a 120 on the final test!)

depends are you taking honors?

My problem is that I hate theoretical math that's just like, out there, and has no relevance to my life (or has relevance to physics-I can do all the finance problems in my book and get them right, but the vertical motion ones, I'm just like...uh....wha?).

I'm in precalc honors, and I got a C fall term. Looks like it'll happen again. But anyway, it's not such a big deal if all your other grades are good. My pcalc teacher is the devil (if he had his way, he'd fail EVERYONE, or grade on an A/F binary, with one A per class-kinda like in some cartoons) and I hate him very much and I have no respect for him, because he can't really teach (which is why we have to teach ourselves-but I refuse to do so because I technically pay him ~$30/hr to teach me...-he tells us what we should know-but refuses to teach us) well, anyway, pcalc is a notoriously stupid class. Just get like a 770 on the Math II SAT and shove that in your teacher's face. SATs are A LOT more objective than grades are...that 770 will glow in your resume while accompanied by the C, the C will show nothing but your teacher's ignorance and incompetence.

At my school there is only Pre-AP Calculus...not CP or honors...Pre-AP is automatically weighed as honors. ANd the class is very difficult. And if you do bad in the class the entire year you basically wastd your time because you wouldn't be taking Calc the next year

my peroblem is that I am in 5 AP classes:
AP Art History
AP Psychology
AP Biology
AP English Language
AP U.S. History

And some of them r easy but a few are hard on that list, so I cant really focus on precalc
