C in writing course

hello, i am a freshman at the university of michigan, I am a math major with a possible double in econ. I have to take this writing course as part of the honors college requirement however I think I might get a C in the class. Considering that I am a math major how much would a C in an english class hurt my chances at a math phd or perhaps an econ phd? Thank you for your time

You're a freshman. Try getting a C in a 300-level course in your junior year. I am more screwed than you are.

Not really, I got a C in a graduate course in my major and STILL got accepted to a top 25 program, I guess mainly because it was under distressing circumstances and it was more like an anomly. The funny thing is I got an A in the senior undergra course I was taking that same semester. Go figure!

Sweetdream, I got 3 As and 1 C that one semester.

I was only taking two classes, and it was last semester. Plus, I am grad student. I just sent an addendum explaining the extenuating circumstances last year that resulted me in getting that C. It's not life threatening if they see it's not typical.
