c/o 2009 Applications

I thought we could help each pther out and post when we notice a school's application has become available (as many are starting to pop up online around this time.)

I know Millikin and the Common App are both available online right now.
Any others?

-knarfy

I've started filling out A BUNCH. but i notice some of the dates on the apps arent right. they still have 2008. not sure if i'll have to start a new one...

You most likely will

I had to wait until late september/october until NYU put out their app

well at least I know what the essays are.
they dont generally change.

University of Michigan is available...

MamaBear- according to the website it will not be available until mid-august, however it does give you a sneak preview...
or am i missing the application somewhere?

Everyone, be careful that you are getting the latest application. As someone said above, sometimes the essays don't change, but sometimes, they do.

Another thing you can do is to get your resume started/going/done and arrange to have headshots taken. These don't have to be professional by any means, but they do need to be flattering photos that look like you. You can take digital files on CD to your local Kinko's or other copy center and have them printed out on white card stock, and then you paste your resume on the back.

Thanks for that info!

Hartts app is out btw :)

knarf...they mailed it to her 2-3 weeks ago and it definitely says 2009...however, I looked online and you are right that they haven't posted the online version yet.

xoxtinysingerxox...

As NMR mentions, often the essay promps DO change. I work with many theater and MT applicants and see the essays every year for the same schools and I can tell you that the prompts have often changed year to year and in fact, many have changed since my own child applied a few years back.

great!!!! <sarcasm
thanks for the heads up

I guess I'm just eager to start the apps

Even though University of Michigan's full application isn't online yet, they do give you the 2009 essay questions so you can get a head start on the application process!

And don't forget that for Michigan, you have to do that repertoire list, so that's something you can get started on. It can be a little time consuming.

Can anyone tell me their thoughts on using the common app? I have heard from some people in guidance that even schools that take the common app would prefer you to use their own apps. Does this matter at all for BFA kids or is it just giving you an edge when its a school that is an academic reach?

My D submitted the Common Application to every school which accepted it and she had a very fortunate admissions outcome last spring. Keep in mind, however, that some schools which accept the CA (such as NYU) also require students to fill out/submit a short supplement to the common application.

I work at a highly selective LAC/University and believe me when I say that these schools do not care if students use the CA or the school's individual application. That is NOT something that will make a difference in admissions outcome.

I cannot recommend the CA (submitted online, electronically) highly enough. My D applied to a dozen schools and being able send the forms at basically the click of a mouse was a huge help.

i have almost completed the common application. ithaca's is ready. pace however doesnt have its supplemental info ready.
u of the arts is still not out
fredonia and buffalo are out
boco is also out
hartt is out too. and i already have my audition date :)

start early ya'll!! i am almost done with the applications, but i still have to track down teachers to get recs from. and send transcripts.

ALSO: BOCO: One recommendation should be from someone who knows the applicant in an academic context and the other from someone who knows the applicant in an artistic context.

I studied with my voice teacher at purchase for 2 years, and now i'm with someone who is on the faculty at boco. I deff want to use him, but I knew my voice teacher from purchase for two years. I took a german diction class from her as well. Is german diction an academic class??

GOOD LUCK YA'LL!

U of M's online app is available. for fall 2009
