Well, I recieved my Conditional Letter of Appointment (or Letter of Assurance) this week. I can't believe it, I'm so excited. This has been a goal of mine since seventh grade, and to know that if my medical gets through I will be a member of 2012 is a HUGE joy/relief.

Great job tell us what sport do you play?
Just curious Male or Female?
please post your stats as others are curious to see how high the bar is set.

SAT:
710 verbal, 660 Math, 700 Writing
I've taken 4 APs, and scored 3 or higher on all of them.
3.9 unweighted GPA
Lots of service hours, fairly strong ECs, and have taken several leadership development courses (not JROTC though)
was going to retake SAT to boost math, but BGO says its unnecesary now.

"This has been a goal of mine since seventh grade."

Congratulations! You should be very proud of yourself and it sounds like it couldn't have played out any better. Bask in your accomplishments and finish your senior year strong. Best of luck!

I'm pretty sure that only recruited athletes who have completed their applications are eligible for LOAs at this point. If I remember right the first admissions board isn't until September, but they convene once in July and again in August to review recruit's completed files.

National Letter of Intent week is in November 8-15, so kids have alot of pressure on them to sign with a school during this period. Since its hard to know if you will recieve an appointment by Nov. if your file was reviewed mid September I guess Navy tries to get recruits through early before other schools can get too big of a headstart.

momof1: I swim 100, 200 fly and 200, 400 IM.

In years past the first LOA's for non athletes came out in October. I seem to remember that Peskemom's daughter and profmom's son both class of 2010 received theirs in October.

I just want to thank everyone on this board. I've been reading this board and the West Point board for the last couple of years and I've learned so much about the Academies and the admissions process. While I am very happy to have received an LOA, I actually feel kind of bad because there are so many people on this board who are better qualified than I am. One of the things that stood out to me early on is the generosity of people attached with the service academies. From the posters on this board, my BGO (who has been great), the people at NASS and the coaches, I've been fortunate to deal with lots of great people who have been unbelievably helpful. At this point, I need to keep focused on my academics senior year and keeping healthy. Best of luck to everyone applying. I hope we all get to meet next summer.

this is kind of irrelevant to this thread, but I just got home from the first day of two-a days (which actually are more like three-a-days) and I feel completely and utterly exhausted. Feeling like this every day of Plebe Summer is going to suck
