Hi everyone. I’m hoping this can be helpful for someone who could use a few more school acceptances. Please join in.
SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design) accepts on a Rolling Base. Tuition may be a little cheaper than Urban Schools and they have a state of the art program for MT and Acting/ Film, Directing
Stellar Adler 2 year program is still accepting applications in LA and New York
Cornish College last week was accepting Video Auditions for Acting (unsure of MT please check)
Columbia College in Chicago accepts on a rolling base
Loyola University Chicago has a strong BA in Theatre Performance with an Acting track. You can pair it with a Musical Theatre certificate. They have rolling admission and no audition. The faculty is very connected.
Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY has a BA with BFA option their Sophomore Year. Highly decorated faculty and less than 20 miles from the city. Rolling admission. No audition until Spring of their freshman year for the BFA track.
IUP (Indiana University of Pennsylvania) has a BA in Theatre with a musical theatre track. I think this year is only the first or second year that it’s been offered so it’s not well known yet. IUP has rolling admissions and you must be academically accepted before they’ll schedule auditions which are scheduled individually.
UMD (University of Minnesota - Duluth) has a BFA MT. They are auditioning on campus on 3/17 and in Minneapolis on 3/24. I think their deadline may have technically passed, but I know they have audition slots open from the acceptd schedule. If you contact them, you might be able to still sneak in an application/audition.
Western Kentucky University has a BFA in Acting, Musical Theatre, or Design & Technology. Audition at the end of the 3rd semester. Deadline to apply is August 1st. If your child is talented and a hard worker, they will pass the audition.
Sam Houston State University 3/24; Montclair State 3/24 (my daughter just cancelled hers last week so there might be an opening!–but that one has a huge number of applicants); University of Tampa 3/19; University of Alabama-Birmingham 4/8; Austin Peay State University March 24 and April 8
Nebraska Wesleyan … contact the theatre department directly to schedule an audition.
Lots and lots of performing opportunities … freshman are typically up and onstage in their first month. And Lincoln, Nebraska is a GREAT little/big town. Love love LOVE it!! And my kiddo loves it too … best thing we ever did was drive 8 hours to Nebraska!) =))
