D has 2 very attractive offers to compare:
CofC: full-tuition vs. ECU (East Carolina): Full Ride
Thoughts?

S is dealing with the same issues. Has winnowed 5 acceptances down to two: CofC Honors and USC Capstone. We're weighing the differences and hope to come to decision next week.

CFC is a super school for undergrads; go to usc for grad school.

Jrideooo - Do you go/did go to CofC?

TurtlePhobic,

Did your D make a decision? My S has chosen CofC over South Carolina. He just felt the fit was right and they have what he's looking for.

Capn'G,
Yes, its CofC. D loved the school on her visit a few months ago, so it was going to take alot to change her mind. ECU, even with a full-ride, couldn't change her mind. Luckily she understands the value of money enough to turn down scholarship offers from the private schools that were higher dollar amounts, but would have left a bigger balance. Charleston's Honors College, with a full tuition scholarship, as an OOS, is hard to beat.

Congratulations to your children CapnG and Turtle! Your kids (and you) should be proud that they were rewarded for all of their hard work.

My S is in the process of putting together his list of schools for next fall. He has CofC on his list. (along with VT, UGA,USC and maybe Clemson). We are in Virginia. He is looking at trying to go the Honors route, and really hopes (like all of the rest of the gazillion kids who will be applying next year :)) for some scholarship money or OOS waivers. He has a 3.9 GPA with a "rigorous" class load...he will have 5 AP classes at graduation and just got his ACT score back - he got a 30 composite. Based on what you both have found with your kids, what do you think his chances are? We walked around CofC last summer when we were on vacation and thought it was wonderful. Time will tell how all of this plays out, but we have enjoyed the journed so far! Thanks for your insights....

KandKsmom,

With your S's stats, I'd say that he'd have very good chance of getting into CofC. We too are from Virginia and my S applied to some State schools as well as to CofC, Rutgers, and South Carolina. Accepted by all the schools applied to and some had better financial offers than CofC. In the end, it was all about fit and S's decision. He just felt good about the environment, both physical and eucational at CofC.
