I had a mix of A's and B's on my report cards throughout my high school year, except for up till now. I manage to get good grades in the 1st quarter of my senior year, but i got my first C in an AP class during the second quarter. i was sick during the second quarter, so I believed that the midyear report wouldn't be an accurate representation of my academic performance in school. What should I do at this point? any suggestions?(btw....its kinda depressing to get a C in an AP calculus BC class when i'm majoring in engineering. i hope I'm not gonna get rejected from all of the schools I applied to for that reason)

Talk to your counselor; the process varies by school to school, but for most schools, you can send them an update (with the help of your counselor) to indicate that you were sick. This probably isn’t what you want to hear, but it really depends on your circumstance.

I have spoken to my GC. he told me to write a letter explaining that I was sick and send it along with my transcripts. but Im afraid that it’s a bit less genuine coming from me.

Yes, your GC on the MYR gets a space for comments. Have him/her write something there, and make sure he/she writes all superb ratings on the checkboxes about your grades and rigor, to try and outweigh the grade itself. It shouldn’t sink you if you can get his/her cooperation to ameliorate it.
