Okay so this year im taking AP Calculus AB and I'm almost positive I have a C average right now. This grade is not for lack of trying, I'm just having an extremely hard time grasping the material and trying to keep up with the fast pace of an AP math course. I have a tutor who I see once a week in hopes that I can get my grades up. My mom suggested that I write a letter to Northeastern explaining that I am unsatisfied with the grade and that I am getting help so that I can bring it up. I REALLY don't want them to think its because I'm slacking off. Is it worth it to send this letter? I applied RD so they will be getting my midyear transcript. Would extra paperwork only hurt my cause, not help it?

i would relax, a C in an AP class is basically equivalent to a B in an academic class. i honestly dont think it would be a make or break thing, and if it was the letter wouldnt really help. say, for example, they are choosing between you and someone who doesnt have any Cs, would you sending them a letter and saying you’re trying to bring your low grade up really make a difference?

i honestly wouldn’t worry too much, northeastern accepted me after seeing my first quarter C in regular calc.

Chill, they won’t care. So long as you don’t have a string of Ds and Fs your senior year, you’re fine.
