:C Waitlisted --> Gap Year?

Hey Guys,

So these last few years I enrolled in very difficult courses that hindered me from doing some ECs. Some of these were starting businesses (I have entire binders filled with business plans), writing books, starting charities through connections with community leaders I met, and much more. Long story short, my application didn't (in my opinion) reflect my true capabilities.

I've posted on these forums before about taking a gap year and reapplying, using the extra time to pursue my dreams, thus boosting my resume. Everyone said "they won't accept someone that they already denied" "if denied, you were already given a chance" "they rarely accept people who were denied before". Well, I was waitlisted. What do you think would happen if I seriously boosted my resume? Let X represent my resume, which was waitlisted. Let 5X represent my resume after months of no school. Could 5X actually be accepted after a gap year?

Ahhh I am just so anxious, nervous, confused, etc.! Sorry if this post is annoying!

Thank you so much!

I did not apply to Harvard, but Penn. However, I would honestly recommend you to just go to your second choice school. If you got into another ivy, such as Yale or Princeton, go there. Do something this summer and then try a transfer into Harvard. Don’t spend a year doing stuff just because you expand your list of heartless achievements. Admissions hates that crap.

I did get into Harvard Summer School, however. It’s not a big deal, but I will probably be at Harvard over the summer. I also got a research position a cancer research institute. As long as its ivy league or a top-notch school, employees don’t “discriminate”.
