C2 Education

Hey! So I am going into my Junior year, and last year I went to Kaplan and had a bad experience. The class was unorganized, and I was not happy. I went with my mother and had a conference with a leading member of C2 Education, though she is weary to pay for them because of their high costs; however, my cousins paid higher rates for their teachers (something around 100 dollars), but C2 is charging 40 dollars an hour. Is there pricing outlandish for 1 teacher to 3 students ratio? Is Sylvan any better?

In the Caldwell-Verona-Montclair area, New Jersey

Sylvan is like $80? but we learned the hard way it’s not about price anyway. Sylvan doesn’t develop relationships with any of the families. You just go and do worksheets and they don’t really care about you. My brother went to C2 Education and the director was really caring and teachers have to go through some training and they weed out some too, so the ones who end up teaching at C2 are pretty awesome and really know their stuff. Sylvan told us they only hire certified teachers BUT a lot of certified teachers don’t know what they’re doing anyway. The c2 3 kids per session but they’re just sitting next to you and you get tutor’s 1:1 attention. It’s kinda nice having other motivated students near you so you don’t rely on teacher always since you can’t during real tests. My brother’s SAT went up 300 points in a few months because of C2’s personal study plans, but I stayed longer junior year because I started later and my grammar was horrible (bro started 9th grade). GO WITH C2! We were really happy.

C2 Education in Merrick New York is the worst. All theybare interested in is how many hours you can sign up for and how much $$ they can get from you. I signed up for 30 hours which cost me $2,400.00. I am retired and am on disability. My son took 2 SAT’s before he went to C2. After 30 hours, he took two more SAT’s and an ACT. His grades were better before going to C2 education on all tests. I am very upset as they told me his points would go up, guaranteed. I was just talking to a neighbor and I didn’t know his two kids went there too. He felt the same way I do. All they seem to care about is how much they can take from your pockets.
Even after I called them and complained and they knew my son was done with his tests, they had the gall to ask me if I want to sign up for more classes.
I asked the woman if she was stoned and if she actually cares about the kids.

PS: I really feel ripped off from C2 education.
It should be called “See You” and get educated that we will rob you!

it really depends on the test center  I have no experience w/ Caldwell/Montclair area…the C2 that I go to is pretty good! However, it’s not good if you are already scoring 31+ on the ACT or 1400+ on the SAT…at that point you should just practice on your own.

The 1:3 ratio is really nice and I really built a bond with the director ! It’s not too expensive with the packages, I think it was worth it, but not for super high scoring students. And not really for SAT IIs…the instructors have less knowledge on the subjects.
