CA Community Colleges or other CA schools that will admit Freshman in the Spring

With the possible CA budget (or lack thereof), we have been informed that San Francisco State may not be accepting students for the Spring semester. In as much as my daughter was attempting to start college in January by graduating early, she may be in the position where this may not be possible.

We are looking at viable alternatives....

1) Preferable, a 4 year school that will accept Freshman in the spring;

2) Second option, is a Community College where she will not need to fight tooth and nail to get classes. Is there a community college in CA that is not over crowded and where she can get UC required transfer classes in 2 years? Close to a larger city is also necessary;

3) Take a gap year where she will work but jobs in our area are few and far between for teens....

It really is a poor state of affairs when a kid can make the effort to graduate early, with good grades and her real life options are limited--FRUSTRATION!!

Oh dear. I’m not sure about your first alternative, but I would try Cal State Northridge. They may have stopped accepting people in the spring, but I know they used to.

2nd option: Maybe College of the Canyons or Moorpark College? They’re both good colleges but I’m not sure how crowded they are. I attend a community College here in CA, but mine is jammed.

If she can get a job that might be a good idea, since some schools really like to see work experience, and it’s just a worthwhile thing to do anyway. :slight_smile: Sorry I don’t have anything better to add.
