what are my chances at UC Berkeley, UCLA, and UCSD?

these guys sound pretty confident that you'll be easily accepted into UCLA, Cal, and UCSD...however I'm not so sure. Your scores aren't bad, but your GPA is far below par. If your extracurriculars are strong enough, your grades won't be that big of a deal. UCSD is the easiest on to get into, good luck with that one. GO CALIFORNIA

thanks for the input, especially for trying to be realistic with my chances.
also, i took a course at a local community college and got an A. Does that count towards my GPA as a 5 point course?
i'd appreciate any more input as well. thanks again.

Yeah, if you work out that A with the person in charge of schedules and transcripsts at your school, it should be fine. Do extra-currics...dedication looks good, holding something for a long time (committment u kno). Volunteering at a hospital is great, but even better if you mention what it meant to you in your essays. CA is a competitive state but you will be fine. Your scores are way above average. They should balance out your GPA.

EDIT: not sure how the community college course I took affects my GPA so I'll put it separate:

DeAnza College Spanish 3 - A. 4.0

Elaboration on community service hours:

160 hours - Washington Hospital Intensive Care/Coronary Care Unit
10 hours (all that was available) - Stanford ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support)
50 hours - band related stuff

More hours to come as I complete them.

Very medicine oriented as you can see :)

Chances at UCSD, UCLA, UCB? Maybe USC or some privates (I have no idea which though....)

Next year's schedule (if it can help)

AP English
AP Chemistry
AP Calculus AB
Gov/Econ (AP isn't offered here)
Adv Band 4 (Wind Ensemble)
Anatomy/Physiology

Raiseeee your Math IIC score, a 760 is simply a no-no. Just kidding. But besides that, you're in for all three if you write a good essay (because your GPA is not so good).

LOL de anza college!!! that's sounds familiar
um it all depends on your major. but the only thing that is dragging you down lil is GPA, but you can't do anything about it. Just do your best on essays.
If you are in FUHSD, just ask your counselor. they deal with hundreds of UC applicants a year.
and community college credit WILL NOT count in your GPA. If you transfer them as credits to your hs transcript, it will not longer count as college credit(weighted). Your community college transcripts are normally not sent till get you into a college and needs to get credits.

So I now have 200 hours from the Washington Hospital Intensive Care and Coronary Care Unit. I don’t know if that helps at all.

Can you chance me for: USC, Washington University in St. Loius, JHU (Johns Hopkins), and Rice University?

My recs will be from teachers who have an excellent impression of me, mainly my ap bio/anatomy/physiology teacher and my english teacher, so I’m pretty sure they are solid recommendations.

I also interned this past summer in Oncology and Molecular Medicine, and am working on a research paper on colorectal cancer, if that helps.

Please rechance for the UCs if you have time, or if anything I added changes anything.

hey, thanks for all the input. Actually, I’m not sure how far this is true, but I think that some private schools count all the honors courses that you took in your high school career. If that’s true, my real weighted GPA would be around 4.5ish, maybe a little more or less.

And also, what do low reach, high match or slight reach mean?

bump…I found out that my actual weighted GPA is a 4.11 (it appears the DeAnza class counts as two semesters weighted course on the gpa of the year prior to the time you took it in, i.e. if you took the college course in the summer after sophomore year, you could calculate your gpa by adding it as a weighted course to your sophomore year gpa. This is only true so far for a 5 credit course, which is the one I took at DeAnza, Spanish 3) Does this improve my chances at all for UCLA? I saw online that the average for the students admitted was 4.14…
