Schools i want/need to make:
UCB (hope)
UCLA (hope)
UCSD (really want)
UCI

Here's what's going on. UCSD is the school you "really want", but it happens to be a UC that's only second to UCLA for highest average GPA (3.98). This will REALLY hurt you. Your SAT scores are pretty good for UCSD, about a 1360 equivalent, but you're going to need to get that higher to compensate for the GPA. Your EC's seem to go beyond UCSD standards so that's good. My guess is that you're going into CS or something? You go to Troy which is magnet heaven for computers, math, and science. This is where you go.. "why did i go to Troy?" It's a VERY good school, one of the best, but unfortunately UC's are only going to accept so many people from one school, this is why class rank plays a role. Your grades are not up to par and even your SAT scores are pretty average for Troy... even though I would take your scores over mines anyday.

It's true that he's pulling off a 4.1, but his UW is a 3.0. I know UC's look at weighted, but an UW 3.0 is ridiculous, that's pretty much all B's. Even with the rigorous cirriculum, that many B's isn't going to help him. I still commend him for being able to stand out in such a school like Troy. If somehow UCSD looks pass that UW GPA, then you're in with your stats right now. Just for some insurance that SAT might want to go up 100 points. It's really kind of stupid how c/o 2006 is the test dummy for everything! First we get the CAHSEE (doesn't matter that's easy), then we get the new SAT, and now UCSD is only accepting Math Level 2 for 2006 (this is fine with me, but the rest of my school has no clue on the difference between Math I and II). All this stuff just means that our year is going to be the hardest on admissions, so I would pad as much stuff as you can on your stats just to make sure you get in. Remember, you can't afford to catch senioritis too early next year!!! Wait after December 1st... After that just don't get revoked.

O....and how do you calculate your UC gpa....its it by their a-g courses thing and honors credit thing? Also, please look at the my post above and answer if you can....Thanks :)
