Cable Television in the Dorms?

How do we go about getting it. What Does it cost, etc.

Bring a tv with all the cords and cables. Plug it in and viola! Cable television in the dorm rooms.

Anyone know what the reception for over-the-air broadcasts are? I'm getting a TV Tuner for my laptop that supports HD broadcasts with an antenna and I'm wondering how feasible it'll be.

Sandkicks: Bring a TV or computer with a tuner card. Bring a coaxial cable. Plug both ends in and you get cable! All "free" as it's part of the dorm services. Only the premium channels like HBO cost extra.

SpicyRoll: Sooo high tech!

Aren't the antennas on TV tuner cards pretty small? I would think that it'll have trouble getting true HD quality.

is it possible to get more channels? or a different provider/

Pretty sure you have to use what they give you. Not positive though.

You're stuck with the free UCLA cable television and ~100 channels in the dorms.
I'm sure you'll survive...

i think you can pay extra fora few "premium" channels like HBO, Showtime, etc. but otherwise its what they give you. the provider is Lamont Campus Televideo. the cable channels run on eastern time.

Wha'ts up with eastern time anyways eh?

I'm used to it... my DirecTV is on eastern too. It's pretty annoying at times but at the same time it's nice to get certain things early.

So I could get the next day's morning news at 3AM? sweet.

Yeah I prefer getting the anime on Cartoon Network on eastern time cause it comes earlier instead of say 12 AM.
