Cable TV in residence halls

while this is hardly the most important topic, I am curious whether students can get cable in their dorm rooms (I mean, residence hall rooms) and, if so, how they pay for it. Is it something you sign up for and which gets added to your bill? Do students work it out directly with the local cable TV provider?

Rooms are wired for cable and a package is included. Off hand I don’t recall the details of the package. You need to bring the standard coax cable to connect your TV to the outlet box.

go here for information regarding cable:

It is free so long as you bring your own TV and coaxial cable, which you can buy at the bookstore way too much, or you can get one here for dirt cheap:

I’d personally recommend something over 10 ft, but its up to you. The same cables at the bookstore are around $20-$25 I think.

Thank you for the replies!

would it be at all possible to set up a dvr? and obviously this isn’t a huge concern for me, i’m just thinking down the line once i’m all set up and comfortable.

I’d call the Media Technology Services @ 617-552-2559 to check about the DVR. I do not know about that.
