Cad

CAn anyone tell me what the most popular CAD Architecture program is? Is there an on-line course for it?

AutoCAD goes a long way in the architecture world. If you know AutoCAD, then you can easily learn any other program.

Archicad is prob. #2 in popularity, though the UI between archicad and autocad are a bit different. Archicad is a bit like Rivet (a bit more user unfriendly haha)

Autocad is still the standard at most firms and something you need to know. However the two packages that will become the standard in the next couple of years are Sketchup for conceptual design and Revit for everything else. In the last year we have shifted to Revit, and now every project in the office is being done with it. I think we are ahead of the curve, but most firms I know are in the process of shifting over from Autocad.

Thanks for all the advice!

I've played a bit with Sketchup. You can download it and use it for 8 hours, and try out their tutorials.

you can also download all Autodesk programs (Rivet, Inventor, Autocad, Civil etc) for free (student versions). I'm too lazy to find the website, but it's out there
