Is that about all 2010 will lose, or will there be any other points along the way where they'll lose some? Is "the point of no return" past yet, or do they still have the rest of summer?

Commitment isn't until the start of the school year, so there is the potential to lose even more.

i personally know of several friends who are leaving within the next month for a year or two (before commitment), so that number should drop still by quite a bit before the start of the school year. after that, the number shouldn't drop too much farther, but we're sure to be far under 1000

You said "for a year or two". Does that mean they leave the Academy (like on Mormon missions) and then come back to finish?

Does anyone know about how many cadets each class looses between the Start of basic and the end of basic?

Somewhere between 150 and 200

wow, are those mostly due to basics just deciding the Academy isn't for them? Or are there a lot of medical or other reasons involved?

Combo of those things. You get a lot of medical rollbacks, and there will be those who decide they chose the wrong place.

I've heard of people who get there, decide it isn't for them, and beat their parents home!

AZcadet,

yes, for a year or two then go possibly return. a couple of rly close friends are both Catholic and are going to Mexico and Guatemala for missions, and another one is trying a program to take off a year to try to take some classes at another college to help him with academics (instead of just getting kicked out). if he does well enough the year he's gone, he could re-enter as a 2 dig with 2011

the whole "leaving for a year or two" thing seems really odd to me. I never expected an academy to offer something like that.

One cadet who graduated with 2008 did that. He was slated to go with 2006, but he left, went to the Peace Corps or something. He had a sad experiance with it, but he came back to finish.
