Is my academic advisor the same for all people in my major?
For instance, I'm a psychology major and on the Berkeley psychology site
UCB Psychology Dept: Academic Advising
It says the names and contacts of the intake advisor and undergraduate advisor. Who would I contact if I had a question about a class I needed to take? Or do I have a more personal advisor since a student can double major, etc.?

On that note, in case anyone happens to know the answer to this (although I would still like to know who to contact about my academic advisor):

If I took Social Psychology at my ccc and it was a class that fulfills my major requirements at Cal, would that apply to to my major upper division course requirements? It was upper division for my cc, but that's still technically sophomore level.

Hey smarty! Yeah, you should contact Mrs. Gutierrez. She’s the undergrad advisor for the psych department. I’ve been e-mailing these people on and off. Richard Ivry is the head of the psych department if you have a more broad question. In regard to asking about a class you need, I’d probably start with Gutierrez.

I’ve also taken social psych, but it won’t count for any upper dic credit. Hell if it did, I’d be almost done lol. I’ve taken 8 psych classes (every one offered at my CCC). I thought CCC’s only offer lower division coursework? Yours offers upper division?

Anyway, I’m fairly confident it’ll only count for lower div credit, but ask Gutierrez that too.

I guess they’re kind of upper division, but not really. Like, they had the intro/freshman classes in the 100s, and the more in depth “upper level” 200 classes that they called “upper division” but I think at CC they’re all lower division.

So Emil–if you took social psychology at cc, could you still take social psych at cal or ucla? I’m worried they’d be like “Oh, you already took social psych so you can’t take it again, but we wont give you credit for it”
