Hey I signed up for the LA one... but I'm not exactly sure what is going to happen there. I'm going to Cal Day on Saturday and have already sent in my SIR. I just figure it doesn't hurt to get as familiar with the school as possible before I go :). What exactly goes on at the receptions? Would recommend going?

I was planning on going to the Baldwin one, but the time it starts is terrible traffic-wise. I'd probably be stuck in a mess and arrive late if I planned to go. But, if you do go, it would be nice to hear what they said. I just didn't want to go because all the presenters would sugarcoat everything.

I went to the OC one and it was pretty cool. I don't think it provides anything that you won't find out on Cal Day (which I will also attend). They had presentations mostly to brainwa...I mean encourage the students to go to Cal and for the parents to let the students go. Most of it IMO was propaganda (I don't believe that all the students just LOVE Cal so much). The most interesting part was when past Cal alumnis came up to talk about what they currently doing. It's kinda funny to see how most of the alumnis have jobs that have nothing to do with their majors. There was a few molecular and cellular biology majors that have jobs nothing to do with bio or medical. But it was also interesting to know/see that most of the alumnis went on to go to ivy grad schools.

I'm going to the LA one and also Cal Day if my parents EVER make plane reservations (my mom is already complaining about the cost). Also trying to find a place to stay. I kept saying, BOOK something and there's been too much going on for anyone to actually do anything. But I'm looking forward to the LA reception and now my grandma wants to go too. . . .!

Do they give you anything, like a sticker or something with CAL on it?
