check it out. It's dated, is for freshmen admission, but has some interesting stuff, including the actual decision report.

i've seen that.. i think cal puts too much emphasis on overcomming adversity...

Thanks... I have learned how an experienced reader admit the students now. It is very informative! By the way, I feel sorry for the applicant#3, I thought he/she should be accepted but actually rejected.

Also there's a 10 min video of an admission read session (before the advent of online apps).

someone posted this before, i remember i guessed wrong on all but one.
nice to see an example of how they make decisions.

Yeah it shows that berkeley wants soemone who overcame adversity or a great leader. Fair enough.

i find it odd how berkeley can admit so many lower scoring candiates and yet keep their super high GPA and SAT average. as expected is all about overcoming adversity.

May be that is part of the comprehensive review

if I remember right, transfers don't need to submit their SAT scores... without them, how they determine transfers' admission?! cuz, most students at cc work part-time, some of them even work full-time... and they don't have too much school activities...

That is why our college GPA and finishing all the requirement like prereg and GEs matter so much...

CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP FREAKIN' CLAP!!!!!
It angers when people don't believe me when I say that Berkeley accepts a rather large amount of low scoring students. Adversity's fine, but if you can't cut it in the classroom...

Basketball teams don't keep poor players because of their adversity?

It just angers me that similar students with similar GPA's have to be separated by "adversity." LET 'EM ALL IN!
