Just curious, why do people think the campus is ugly? I personally love the trees and walkways and leisurely reading on Memorial Glade. Obviously Dwinelle and Barrows are nothing to rave about, but East Asian Library and Doe are quite breathtaking.

Something like reverse-Berkeley goggles?

The “Classical Core” looks fantastic. It’s the monstrosities built in the 60s that don’t help campus beauty - Evans, Barrows, MLK Student Union. Fortunately, they are either upgrading these buildings or there are plans to upgrade them in the future.

I’m a bit disappointed with the new student union…it’s too trendy looking and will likely be very dated in 15 years. I would have preferred something more classic.

Trees in upper sproul are ugly to the max in winter.

Hills and buildings are old and decrepit. Buildings are scattered around campus with no order, etc.

The campus is prettier than your face.

^UpMagic, I want to have a beer with you.

atable: True. Sproul trees in winter are offshoots of the Whomping Willow.

It’s gorgeous… can’t believe that so many people say that it’s ugly. It has trees all over the place, beautiful architecture, not to mention that wonderful creek area!

It’s eh, compared to the private colleges out there.

I noticed the creek area too when we visited. You can go from hustle and bustle of Sproul to peace and quiet in 2 minutes.

Standing on the steps by the Campanile, looking out towards the bay the view is pretty breathtaking.
