I'm hoping to transfer to Cal as a junior from a community college. Is it safe to say that the majority of the giant classes that large state schools like Cal and UCLA are known for mostly occur at the freshman/sophomore level? I really have little knowledge in this area, but I would assume that the majority of the huge classes are general ed courses. I'm majoring in anthropology and have all my general ed courses completed. Any input would help! Thanks!

Class size typically gets smaller at the junior and senior level (courses numbered 100-199), although some courses which are taken for popular majors and which are popular with non-majors are still quite large (e.g. Economics 100A and 100B, intermediate microeconomics and macroeconomics with less math).

It appears that two courses, 114 (History of Anthropological Thought) and 137 (Energy, Culture and Social Organization) are large (180 and 240 student limit, 171 and 219 actual enrollment), but most of the others are small.
