<p>Even those stats are real, it doesn’t prove anything you’ve said. The increase is still way too minimal to conjecture that race is still being considered in the process, given that the stats vary EVERY YEAR. The biggest increase from your stats given is the admit rate for Latino/Chicano people, a 1.4% increase. I’m not seeing an “influx” of anything, but rather, just a bare increment. I’m still holding the idea that more intelligent URM applicants are applying to the UCs.</p>
<p>If by any chance race is a part of the UC admission process, being that certain races get certain percentages of admits, it then discounts your original argument that UCSD is a safety school for OP. The OP only has a chance to become a part of that low percentage of the admits, and as the OP’s stats are average at best, you can’t just go off to say that he is an automatic-in at UCSD.</p>
