Tuition/Fees: $8,056
Access/Books & Supplies: $1,473"

Says the limit is supposed to be “$9,223.” Maybe it’s just increased from last year?

@bomerr - I think I know what may have happened with yours. Your schools you applied to review your FAFSA and send your estimated unmet need amount and CSAC has a formula and they spit out a number of what they believe they should give you. That’s my assumption as to why yours is lower.

Here’s mine copied and pasted:

"NEW Cal Grant B Total Award Amount: $13,665

School of Attendance: 00132000 00 UNIV OF CA - SANTA BARBARA

Total Award Amount: $13,665
Tuition/Fees: $12,192
Access/Books & Supplies: $1,473
"

USC is lame i guess.

Ohhhhhhhhh that’s why lol they give you more to attend a UC than they do for anything else.

Here’s from the CSAC:

"The maximum Cal Grant A and B tuition/fee award amount at the University of California (UC) and California State University (CSU) remains at the 2013-14 level - $12,192 and $5,472, respectively.
• The maximum Cal Grant A and B award amount at non-public institutions reflects the changes enacted in Senate Bill 1016 as noted below:
** $8,056 for new students at private, non-profit institutions, and private, for-profit institutions that are accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges ** "

And then the extra $1,473 for books/living costs

@Matt4200: Hey Matt, do u still wanna go to UCSB despite what happened last night?! lol

@Bolandgoo - I don’t think that is an “lol” moment, and neither would any humane person.

take it easy. I "lol"ed at students with the same situation as yours, who would have dreamed of going to UCSB, but because of this incident are having second doubt…

Never thought I’d agree with @matt4200, but this time I do. Definitely nothing to joke about in any way. It’s a horrific tragedy.

I usually add “lol” to my comments, even when I’m not laughing…lol!!

I’m actually really curious how many people are going to change their decisions now. Are we not allowed to have a discussions about it on these forums? policy maybe cause I dont see any threads about it here.

I don’t see why this would change anyone’s decisions. It’s not like shootings are a frequent occurrence, much less on a university campus.

@bolandgoo - Even still nothing about this is “lol” able.

And idk how the Cal Grant thread got so derailed onto this? At minimum this should be in a UCSB thread.

@Matt4200

Late bump, apologizes. To Matt or anybody, what is this Sept cycle? I had missed the deadline but what is this other cycle?

I was referring to post 28.
