So I qualified for cal grant b, and it says the total award amount is $12,675. For my financial aid package I also received the pell grant and the blue and gold. So approximately how much money will left over after the tuition and fees (12,539) are covered? I am asking because I currently attend a CCC and I usually have money left over for gas, parking permits, and books, after all my fees have been paid. I just want to know if I'll still have money left over for these things. Does the blue and gold work by using the cal grant b money, in which case it would be cal grant b money minus tuition and fees? It's all a bit confusing.

Cal Grant A and B both cover systemwide fees.

Cal Grant B has two differences, though:
The freshman year lacks tuition/fee assistance (but this is made up by the college)
Offers “living assistance” in the amount of $1,551.

Blue&Gold is a promise your systemwide fees will be met through a combination of grant and/or scholarship monies. Because Cal Grant covers systemwide fees, it considers its promise met. As a transfer, you don’t have to worry about the freshman year issue with Cal Grant B.

There will still be campus fees to be covered.

To figure out if you will have any aid left over, you will need to add up your billed costs. Note that the “living assistance” portion will be given to you directly, though. It will not be applied to any outstanding bills so if your bill exceeds your aid so you will have to pay the remaining balance.

Thanks your response was very helpful.
