CAL GRANT - Awards are Out

@ucwannabee

The marital status is that of your parents. The net worth shown is also of your parents.

Edit: That is how mine is anyway.

So… somehow I have UCB, UCLA and UCI listed… and I’m going to UCSD.

no email = no award info?

I didn’t get an email but I got my award info. I got the Cal Grant B Transfer Entitlement Award, but there is a hold on it. Supposedly there is a link on the main page about requirements I need to fulfill, but I can’t find it.

I’m still pending…

I’m pending too, they want additional info - I figure it’s cause I had a GPA change from 3.03 to 3.437. I wanted to check my FAFSA too but I got locked out cause they made their site idiot proof and now I can’t figure out how to navigate it u.u. I don’t want this to jepordize my financial aid for UCSD I was getting a full-ride.

Same thing here. It says I was awarder Cal Grant B, but it is on hold. It is also listing a school I applied for, but not the one I chose. Will the amount change because the school that I chose is more expensive? Maybe they will be sending the form in the mail soon.

Mine still has the annoying red pending message :(

Im scared looking at this, it says UC berkeley but i sir’d with UCLA. IS this going to change automatically to LA at some point or am i going to have to call them

Hit submit school change or leave of absence when you log in! That’ll ask you and you can put in the proper info.

Also, if you click CA Aid Report it should show the other schools anyway. It’ll take a few days but it’ll switch over as necessary. :)

You can’t submit school changes yet, but I believe the website says you can do it in July. They do have a “School Change Simulator” to show you how the change will affect your aid. I have to change from UC Berkeley to UC Davis, and the simulator indicated no change (I was awarded Cal Grant A, for reference). It also did not change when I switched from living off campus to on campus.

Okay so I was awarded Cal Grant B for 11k, does this mean my fin aid offer from UCB will be reduced?
Current package =
Unmet need: $10,240.00
Gift Aid(No loans, Free money): $21,326.00
Loans: $5,500.00
Work Study: $2,172.00

And cal grant: $11,124
does this mean I get 21,326+$11,124? and they take away the work study + loans offer?

Because cal grant + original gift aid would = 32,450 which is more than $31,566.00(Total UCB Costs), which doesnt make sense.

Ccjunior transfer, I am in the same situation. From what I gathered on UCB’s website, we have a ‘maximum’ gift aid limit which is cost of attendance (something like 27k) minus the EFC on your fafsa. If you are eligible for a Cal grant, I think they will end up using that money instead of paying it out from the university’s funds directly. So it should end up to be the same amount. The same rules do not apply to non-need-based aid like loans and scholarships earned purely on merit, so those won’t be affected. At least that’s how I interpreted it.

so no matter what we still have to make up that 4-5k difference, except now it wont be under loans it will be free money. But the question now becomes, will they offer the remaining difference in loans or do they expect us to pay that ourselves?

I already submitted my SIR to Cal, but because I just received the ucla achievement scholarship, im thinking of taking the full ride.

Cal Grant A - Not Awarded - Score below cut off
Cal Grant B - Not Awarded - Score below cut off
Cal Grant C - Not Awarded - Ineligible
GPA: 3.94
EFC: $11.00
Seriously, I don’t understand :frowning:
This is killing me T__T

still nothing for me :(

@Tamsin

Mine said the same thing with a GPA of a 3.8
My EFC = $0 and I have no income lol. My parent’s EFC = $0 but I’m an independent anyway (24). I wonder what kind of ranking they use to determine this. At least I got Blue & Gold?

@ killmyentourage
I’m still a dependent… my parent’s EFC is 0 though. Now with the loan, I still have like 5-6k to fill in and I was hoping Cal Grant would cover that and the loan. I’m eligible for Blue & Gold too.
Such a bummer ~___~

I found an old thread that someone posted a system of the score. Have a look if you like
