Cal Grant Awards Are OUT

Just checked and was awarded cal grant B

Same, except its on hold until I submit some form. Worried about it because I didn’t graduate from HS here in CA, but I was born here and have been here 18/20 years of my life. Hmm…

Same here. I submitted the form a few minutes ago. I’m sure you’ll be fine even though you graduated from a school in another state.

What freaks me out is on their website it says you have to have graduated from a CA HS. The only reason I didn’t is because my aunt and uncle in CO became my legal guardians, thus I could not finish HS here in CA.

Got mine too! I just needed to submit a verification form thingy that had my cal grant B on hold. I’m on the waitlist for UCI…is it normal for them to award me anything because I did get an actual amount and the amount of years I was entitled to those grants.

How much did you guys get for cal grant B? I want to know if it’s the same amount as any other on campus student or uc student. I am also on hold, we all are actually.

I didn’t get anything because my parents make too much–it was as expected.

its normal, i was wait listed to uc davis once. they sent me the financial aid package. i ended up getting denied though.

still no decision posted for me yet—but i am only eligible for the competitive grant, and never seem to get it because my folks both went to college. still, i always wait and think, maybe this year i will get it. haha. not sure that it would make any difference to my award anyway because i have blue and gold.

congrats philo and the rest of you. does it show up on your UCLA financial aid yet?

@northbeach: in the same boat. I probably won’t get the grant either, not because of my parents, but because I graduated from high school. I lost 18 points as result of that. lol

I got mine too. It was around 13k and I was awarded cal grant B. It covers tuition and books and supplies. coooool.

@northbeach yeah thanks. I doubt it even matters because of B&G…you’ll get your tuition covered one way or another so I guess it’s not that important these days. good luck anyways

Still “awaiting processing” for me

@northbeach oh and no my fin. aid award hasn’t been updated since the day decisions came out

Same here, but I had to send in a form. I don’t think I’d be actually awarded anything, since I did not attend a CC for the 2011-2012 year (I didn’t know if summer 2011 counted, so I just assumed they meant the regular school year), but rather was at UCD for the 2011-2012 school year.

You guys think they actually check into all of this? Not that I’m about to go fib on my form or anything, but do they really check to see if you graduated from the high school you say you did? I’m waiting for a response back from CSAC about my status. If you try to call them right now, you get a message saying “Due to the high volume of calls, we are not taking calls”, which makes no sense, but whatever.

just put the name of your hs and put CA as your state. there’s a chance they probably don’t give a fudge but they might but if they talk to you about it, just say ohh my mistake

HELP PLEASE!

I don’t really know what this means

I was admitted to UCLA and when I got my financial aid email they said I received a 15k gift aid for outstanding academic standing however I got my cal grant email today saying I was disqualified for my award. Does this mean I got my 15k taken away?

I just got a letter and a scholarship award in the mail last week congratulating me on my accomplishments and now I get this email

on my cal grant page it says CAL GRANT A B and C not awarded so does that mean my 15k has been taken away?

Please let me know!! Thanks!

take a screenshot of your ucla fin. aid award

So on my UC’s finaid I have a undergraduate school scholarship and federal pell grant. I also got awarded Cal grant B but is that extra?
