Cal grant cuts or no?

I've been hearing mixed responses. Some say that the Cal grant cut proposal has passed, and a lot of students will be deprived of the cal grants. I've also heard that the State committee or whatever rejected the proposal by the Governator.

Can anyone enlighten me on this topic?

As of today:

Who knows what tomorrow may hold.

NOTHING has passed. Read the newspaper, or the news online: LATimes, SacBee, or SF Chronical.

Nothing yet. Last week at my daughter’s orientation the FA Director told parents that for now they are leaving the Calgrants in the FA calculations for incoming students and assuming that the Calgrants will come through.

Hmmm I see, thanks.

So is there a deadline to which the Legislative has to make a decision on whether to reject the proposal?

Or can they accept it at any given time, and they drop the award while I’m still attending?

My current understanding is that students who would be incoming sophomores or above will be grandfathered in…They won’t take those cal grants away. What will happen with the cal grants for incoming freshmen remains to be seen. They could be given this year and then “taken away” while you are still attending… from what I understand right now. This is obviously a volatile situation.
