Cal Grant Question

Hey guys! I'm back! Anyway, I got another quick one for you guys. I recently got into UCSD (today). They awarded me with 8000 dollars in UCSD grant and I got the Chancellor's scholarship for $20,000 over 4 years. However, I'm STILL short about 4000 from a full ride.

Now the question is this:

I got my Cal Grant Notice a while back, and I remember that under Cal Grant A, it said Code #1. When I checked online, Code #1 meant that I was eligible for A as well as B.

How would I change to receive Cal Grant A instead? I'm trying to get as close to a full ride as possible.

Why would they give me Cal Grant B if I'm eligible for Cal Grant A?

Doesn't Grant A give more money?

How much money exactly is Cal Grant A?

Thanks for the replies guys!

-Regards

You can call CalGrant and ask them. As I recall, they decide which one to give you. There's a pamphlet that comes with the notification that explains it all.

BUT--don't think that the CalGrant is going to help you get a "full ride". You imply that your UCSD finaid package doesn't yet include the CalGrant. When UCSD includes the CalGrant into their offer, they will just reduce their University Grant by the same amount, leaving you with the same unmet need.

So- let CalGrant know that you're going to UCSD, and ask about A vs. B.
