Cal grant questions??

I know it might be way too late for this but I have to ask anyways.

My university submitted my GPA for the cal grant. They submitted the GPA I had at the end of the fall semester, which was a 2.1. My mother makes above the ceiling for cal Grant b, so I was ineligible for that. I managed to push my GPA up to a 3.0 at the end of spring semester by retaking classes I messed up in. I’m now eligible for cal grant a. I just recently checked webgrants and saw that the reason I did not receive cal grant a was because my GPA was too low.

So, I just wanted to know… Is it too late to do anything about that? Is this a plausible reason to file for an appeal? Is your GPA at the end of the fall semester the only GPA that matters, and spring semester is just irrelevant?

Are you a high school student, recent graduate, CC student or what?

I’m an undergrad. A sophomore to be specific. At a university, not a CC.

Did you receive the Cal-Grant last year, or are you trying to qualify for the first time?

I was eligible last year (my fall freshman semester GPA was a 3.0) but I’m assuming I didn’t receive it because my GPA took a huge plunge during my spring semester as a freshman. I just got it back up to a decent number and remember reading that the minimum requirement for college GPA’s for Cal Grant A is a 2.4. So, I haven’t received it before.

Did you qualify for the Cal-grant coming out of high school with your high school GPA - or have you NEVER received it before and are trying to moving forward in school?

Didn’t qualify. Applied in senior year of high school but wasn’t eligible. So, never received.

Your school has to have your GPA on file before March 2nd, which is the Cal-Grant deadline for first time recipients, which means for you spring grades hadn’t posted yet. Your best bet will be to keep your GPA up moving forward so you can try to qualify next year. You can check with CSAC regarding an appeal, but I’m 99% sure they aren’t going to make any exceptions, as that is their GPA submission date for high schools and colleges alike.
