Cal Housing move-in date question

So my lease states that I move into the Channing-Bowditch apartments on the 12th (have room number, etc). I am quite new to how this works and am just confused about move in as I received no info after I completed the application and confirmed deposit (as in, no orientation, tour, further instructions or anything). Do I literally just pack up all of my things and just walk in and ask for my key on the 12th? Or can I literally show up at like 12:00 am, and begin the move-in process?

It should be on the 12th, 10 am or so, walk in and ask for your key.

They don’t have orientation or anything for Cha-Bow. Do you have your email set up? Usually the RA for your floor sends you an email about moving in and any social events he/she is hosting to get you started, as well as a phone number and name of the RA you are assigned to.

You can call Cal Housing to get better info than what I’m telling you. They can also tell you what time they will be opening the housing processing dept (see info below).

My recollection is that Cha-Bow uses Unit 1’s housing processing (i.e. where you check in, get your key, etc.), located downstairs in the middle of the Unit 1 quad area, just to the right of the mailboxes. I think you need two forms of i.d. – driver’s license (or state i.d.) plus your Cal1 card so they can process you and get you your keys.

There is no place in Cha-Bow that can process you. Plus, you need the key to access not only the apartment, but the locked gate outside and the entry door (in short, you’ll need to use the key 3 times to get into your apartment). Just remember this, because it can be a pain in the neck moving your stuff in. If you are bringing your stuff in by car, you can park directly out front of the apartments, but do NOT leave your car there unattended for any length of time. Just put on the emergency blinkers. Hopefully you’ll have someone to assist you.

^Thanks a lot for the extra info. Yes, I received an e-mail yesterday and briefly spoke with Cal housing, but I forgot to ask about parking, where exactly to get the keys, what to expect, etc, so this information is very helpful. It looks like I’ll be bringing my dad with me on move-in. I also don’t have my Cal1 card yet either so I’ll be picking that up today. Thanks again!

parking in front of Cha Bow could be a problem because of the construction on the new complex across the street. If you’re forced to park in the underhill structure, make sure to get a cart from Unit 1 so you don’t have to carry everything from underhill to CB.
