I decide to live on campus for my first semester/yr in UCB, but I am not sure which dorm is better. Should I apply to all of them or I should target on the best one?
Should I apply ASAP so I can get y first choice? I haven't sent my SIR yet.

Hey lilsunflower. I am looking into applying for on-campus housing at UCB as well. It's really important for me to live on campus my first year just because I heard that it is a really good way to make friends. I am considering living in the Unit 2 Apartments (Wada) because they are created just for transfers/upper division students. I really dont want to live with a bunch of freshman.

I would also really like to live in the residence halls though, just because I think it would be nice to experience that for a year. However, it seems like the residence hall options for transfers/upper division students only have single rooms and a few triples.

Oh, and it doesn't matter how soon you get your application in. They are due on June 1, and then after that, they give each student a number for the lottery that they use to determine who gets what where.

Thank you socalgal20.
Should I aim on those two buildings or I should apply to the other ones as well.
What is going to happen if I only apply to unit2, but don't get in.

Um, go look at the housing app:

They give you five choices. If you don't get any of the five you selected, I think they just put you wherever is available.

ok, im going to sound like a real party pooper, but my friend told me that a few weeks ago someone died in unit 2 too ...this one kid had done shrooms and jumped off the balcony. According to my source, this event was on the Daily Cal.

note to self: don't do shrooms near balcony.

mojo: the guy didn't die. he went to the hospital and was okay. he jumped off the 2nd floor balcony.

ohhh...my source said he died!! Lol!

Why did he jump off the balcony? too much stress?
We'd better keep in touch so you guys can come to see me when I jump off the balcony next yr.

No, "shrooms" is a slang word for "hallucinogenic mushrooms" aka "psilocybin mushrooms." When doing them you lose control of your actions. So he probably was unaware that he was jumping off a balcony. My guess is it had nothing to do with academic stress.

bump....!!

Do you guys know whether the Residence Halls (Unit 1, 2, 3, Foothill, Clark Kerr) keep their transfer/upper division students relatively together, like, say, on the same floor, or do they have them disbursed throughout the halls?

unit 2 does...

one of my firends lives in unit 2 right now and her room is sooo nice. my first choice was unit 2 (wada), but i seems like everyone put that as their #1 choice.

I can't remember which house I applied to live in because I submitted housing app over a month ago, without even looking at the houses. I recall thinking at the time, "If the housing app thing is legit, I don't care WHERE I live." Now I kind of regret that I didn't spend more time thinking about it.

If you get Wada you will have to buy the meal plan for Non Residents. Or you dont have to get it at all and just eat out all day

people! put your housing in order of preference! that'll be more interesting to read lol

I just found out none of the cal housing facilities has AC

fail

we dont need an AC, we are mostly going to school during the cold seasons so what we need is a heater!
