<p>Hi, I just got admitted to Berkeley as a junior transfer student from a CC,</p>
<p>I am planning to double major in Econ and Poli Sci.</p>
<p>I am thinking of doing the summer quarter before Fall09 starts,</p>
<p>so that I can finish two required class and make my later life easier,</p>
<p>Another reason for me to do the summer classes is to meet people and</p>
<p>hopefully get into clubs or fraternities quickly, </p>
<p>My questions would be,</p>
<li><p>Is it advised for transfer students to do that?</p></li>
<li><p>I am worried about grades, cause there’s a possibility that I might not be</p>
<p>able to adapt quickly and do badly in those classes.</p></li>
<li><p>Will there be any impact on me when I declare major?</p></li>
<li><p>Please kindly offer some comments/ past experiences if any of you </p></li>

<p>which major did you get accepted into? i plan on doubling in econ and poli sci tooo.
do you have all your prereqs done for both majors?</p>
<p>if you take any class during the summer, it will count towards your admission contract. So if you get a D or something you’d get your admission revoked. I heard of this happening to a spring admit who took classes in the fall through extension.</p>
<p>My summers are booked for ever unless my parents’ business go out of business. 
So no, although I would love to.</p>

<p>i am done for the econ part,</p>
<p>for the poli sci part, </p>
<p>I have done all four poli classes but did not do any</p>
<p>history classes, that’s why I want to do the summer courses…</p>
<p>but if you’re sure you won’t get a bad grade during the summer ( taking easier classes like english or GE classes), then is it recommended to take summer sessions?</p>
<p>whats odd is that ucb is PROMOTING its summer sessions…</p>
<p>^^ actually it is promoting its summer program quite aggressively…</p>
<p>Not only that, but if you fail a class you have to repay all the fin aid you got for summer</p>
<p>^^ but I heard summer classes are actually a little bit easier then normal classes coz the professors are more lax on standards coz they know summer session is short…</p>
<p>I think a lot of it depends on the professor and the department (and the class). It just happens to be that I am taking a class M-F 9am-2pm so I am not expecting it to be easier. I know Profs. who have literally compressed the entire semester course into 8 weeks and others that have been really relaxed. I think it’s luck of the draw.</p>
